Catching Up!

Since I just wasn't in the mood for blogging on Monday and then Tuesday is my longest day ever! I thought I would play catch up today! Lets start with the weekend...

Friday - One of the practitioners in the clinic I work in was sick so I was able to get my sweet babysitter to come over so I could work the afternoon. I took her home, switched her out with her sister who would babysit that evening and came home. Hannah who had had a runny nose for the past week was running a temperature of 102. I took off her clothes, fed her dinner, and bathed her and didn't check it again before leaving the house. I told Kristan to call me if Hannah acted like she felt bad. Stuart went on his much anticipated Yeager Dove Hunt in Balmorhea and so it was just the girls weekend! To celebrate, we went to Heidi's for a wine party! It was a lot of fun and Heather's cakeballs were delicious! We had a great time and need to do it more often. I got home pretty early and had to wake Hannah up so I could take Kristan home. Hannah was really sweaty, so I guess her fever broke on its own. Hannah went right back to sleep in her crib when we got home and I stayed up watching Hurricane Ike hit my former home in Galveston. I guess natural disasters intrigue me, but this one a lot more considering 3 years ago I lived right on the seawall in Galveston while attending UT Medical Branch. While I lived there (for 2 years) we never had even a tropical Storm scare, but so many times I wondered what I would do if a hurricane ever threatened Galveston. Probably, prior to even a recommended evacuation, I would have Phoebe (this was prior to Daisy days), my CHI iron, and my computer, and be over that cause-way on my way to safer territory like West Texas. Even last fall when Stuart and I were living in the Woodlands I was well prepared to be back in Midland in a heartbeat! Anyways, I watched late into the night as my friends' and family (my uncle lives in Clear lake) battled hurricane Ike. I have seen some devastating pictures taken my E1 persons who stayed at the hospital and if I have time, may post some. Basically it was like a horror movie where you see water start seeping down the strand from the surge! No wonder Galveston in inhabitable. Anyways, besides my friends with power outages in the Houston area everyone did okay.

Saturday Hannah and I laid around and did some shopping. Gymboree is having a huge baby sale with everything $10 or $20 dollars. We got some cute 12-18 months clothing for winter! Saturday night I made cakeballs and Hannah would not go to sleep! She ended up staying up til 1am! I think her ears were hurting her. I did check her ears on Saturday and they were slight red with a good light reflex (if the light reflex is absent that means that there is fluid behind the tympanic membrane). I have heard/read some where that over half of ear infections (that I normally treat!) are viral. I think this was viral because she seems to be doing fine now. See other Moms... every time your child runs fever or cannot sleep you do not have to rush them into the doctors office... Give it a few days and see if their immune system can fight it off first! hehehehe...

Anyways, Daddy made it home Sunday in time for lunch and had a great dove hunt. The weather was beautiful as it has been all week here.

While I am typing, Hannah is destroying my office! So, until next time, enjoy the cute pictures of Hannah before school last week!

I love the outfits! Sorry she has not been feeling well, but it is so nice that you are a nurse and can handle things like that without missing a beat. Also hilarious that you'd take your Chi (if I ever brushed my hair anymore, I would need mine too).

Jennifer, Stuart, Hannah,
You may have heard from Susie by now that we're fine here in Clear Lake. We lost trees and fences, but the house is fine. The boat also survived without a scratch.
Love,
Uncle Bill and Aunt Jeannie
