Hudson has had the opportunity to participate in Hippotherapy through Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center this summer. He is really really enjoying this! We are very thankful to be able to have this opportunity. There is a large waiting list for hippo and we are blessed that he has been chosen to participate. Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center provides services to children in our community free of charge. Hudson is currently receiving Speech, Physical, Occupational, and Hippo therapies through MCRC for his low muscle tone. The Center is amazing and does amazing things for our community. We refer a lot of children from my office to MCRC and I have been familiar with the Center for several years as a volunteer and attending their fundraisers. The Center survives on donations received from the community and is not for profit. Again, anyone who qualifies for services can and will receive services at no cost. The Therapists are all amazing, talented, and have huge hearts for children with special needs.
Ironically, I am chairman of one of MCRC's biggest fundraisers. A year and half ago I agreed to be the Co-Chair knowing that in 2012 I would chair the event. We were not receiving services from MCRC and I never dreamed that we would at that time. Today, I am in active planning mode (along with my wonderful committee!) getting ready for this big fundraiser Take the Money and Run! Today, it means so much more to me. We are currently receiving donations and sponsorships for the September event and I like to personally write the Thank You notes. From the bottom of my heart I am so appreciative and thankful for people who support the Center. A $25 donation to $10,000 donation is what gives my own child the opportunity to receive the services and therapies he needs.
Hippo uses a variety of therapies including speech, physical, and occupational. In addition to the therapists Hippotherapy uses a lot of volunteers from the community to help guide.
This is Huddy's horse "Sky" He loves the the horses and loves petting and talking to all of them out at the barn!
