A Historical Day

I am sitting here watching the inauguration and am compelled to write about such a historical day. Just 4 years ago, I had the opportunity to attend President Bush's inauguration. It was amazing! Today I have such mixed emotions as I watched my favorite President leaving the White House with our new President. I am so sad that Bush is done. I love President Bush, not for his policies, but for his character and principles he withheld during the 8 years he spent in Washington. Today we start a new era, on the steps of Capital Hill that slaves built, an African American man will be the leader of our country. Something many thought would never happen. Although I did not vote for Obama, I am amazed and pleased that our country has come so far. On the other hand, I am sad for Bush, having to leave. I am sure it is bittersweet for him as he is probably thrilled to get back to Texas and his good ol' boy roots! This afternoon, Air force 1 will make its final trip to Texas with the Bush gang as Midland gets to welcome their favorite son home! Welcome Home W! We are proud of you!
