Chicken Pox

When there has got to be an exception to the rule, Hudson is it! Poor Buddy!
Tuesday after school and after his nap Hudson woke up with a high fever, 103.
I gave him Tylenol, got out my otoscope and checked his ears and throat, clear. Listened to lungs, clear. Remained febrile through the night and Wednesday still had a 102 fever. I noticed some bumps on him. He had chicken pox! For confirmation I ran him up the office and sure enough, Dr. N. confirmed it. Hudson has a vaccine related case of chicken pox. Rare, but does happen. (Disclaimer: Although this is a risk of the varicella vaccine, I still highly recommend it, will continue to recommend it, and will continue to vaccinate my children with it).
The office has to notify the health department that there has been a confirmed case of chicken pox, a vaccine form has to be filled out and sent to the health department, and I had to notify Mothers Day Out that Hudson had exposed 7 other kids (at least 5 of them not yet vaccinated) to chicken pox.
Aside from the 3 days of fever Hudson has been fine. He still has some bumps coming out and is contagious for 5 days. He has fewer than 15 bumps and they don't seem to itch him too bad. It is next to impossible to get good pictures of Hudson and his "pox" but I tried to capture them for his baby book/blog!
