I hate when I neglect my blog. I really try to update frequently. We have been so busy this month but not everything is bloggable material.
School. Junior League, other types of meetings, school registrations for next year, birthday parties, sick kids, well check, Dallas... It has been a really busy January!
A few highlights!
Hannah had her 3 year old well check. Because this was almost 3 weeks ago, I honestly cannot remember her height and weight! She is in the 75th% for height and weight and I beleive she weighed somewhere around 34lbs and was 38 inches. I know she was 36 inches with shoes on at Disneyland in August, has she really grown that much! Wow! Hudson weighes 27lbs! Hannah is reaching all of her milestones and already doing what most kids should learn during their third and fouth year. She knows all of her shapes and can draw them, counts to 20? or more, knows her ABC's, knows all of her colors, her address, and although this is not a milestone, I think it is pretty impressive, she can say the entire Pledge of Alligence! She is extremely observant and thoughtful. She asks how others are feeling she shows genuine concern for others and observes (and comments) everything from the weather to what we are wearing. She is really into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse these days and will finally for the first time in her life, sit down in front of a TV for almost 20 minutes!
Both kids have been sick. Hudson came home from school on day just fine, I put him in his bed and I heard him gasping for air a little bit later. I went in there and he was sitting straight up in bed with stridor (like a wheezing sound) and a barky cough. It was 4pm so I called Stuart and he rushed home to watch Hannah and I ran Hud up to the office. At first Dr. N thought he could have a forgien body obstruction due to the sudden onset but gave him a racemic epinephrine breathing treatment in the office to see if he had croup. If he didn't respond he were going to have to go get a chest x-ray to see what he had swallowed! He was spiking a fever and responded to the breathing treatment so it was determined he had croup. Breathing treatments every two hours and a steriod shot and within twelve hours we were good as new! Until two days later! Two days later he spiked a fever of 102.8 which stayed around for a week! He would be fine in the mornings and spike the temp after two in the afternoon! He was swabbed for flu which was negative (it should be! I give my kids flu shots!) and two days later was still spiking the fever and coughing so I brought him back. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and an ear infection. He got breathing treatments, an antibiotic shot, and an antibiotic. Two days later, he was still spiking the fever! Took him back and he has a viral infection on top of the pneumonia and ear infection but his lungs were clear and was much better. Sister had a low grade temperature and a runny nose and cough so I brought her in with Hud one of our trips. She had a ear infection and a viral throat infection. She got an antibiotic and has "shared" breathing treatments with Hudson and is much better. Our house has seen lots of boogers! Hannah is a super nose blower though which helps a lot. Poor kids! They are so rarely sick. They were so whiney and didn't feel well. I knew Hannah was sick when her teacher told me she fell asleep in her lunch at school. Hannah hasn't been sick or on antibiotic in over a year and half and Hudson has only been sick twice in his life but its been twice in the last month! Our noses are drying up and everyone is recovering!
This weekend we took a trip to Dallas. My Grandmother turned 87! We celebrate each year with her and it was nice to spend the weekend with my Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle, Dad, and Susie and Jason.
