Birthday Prayer and Preschool Program Practice

To celebrate birthdays, Hannah's school does a Birthday Blessing in daily chapel. Because her birthday is during the Christmas break we opted to go ahead and do her Birthday Prayer today before the break. Families are always welcome to attend Chapel with their kids but I have never had the opportunity until today. Mimi and Pops joined Stuart, Hudson, and I as we sat with Hannah and the K3 and K4 classes. Chaplin Tom read a story about a Donkey that Mary rode in on and coincidentally, one of the teachers had brought their donkeys up to school for the kids to see. We got to see and pet the donkeys before going into Chapel. The kids sang, prayed, and listened to the story and then Chaplin Tom invited us all up to the front and gave Hannah her Birthday Blessing and all the kids prayed for her. It was so sweet and Chaplin Tom is the cutest Chaplin ever! He has come out of retirement to be the Chaplin has white hair and a curly white mustache. He is such a gentle man and the kids love him. We really enjoyed being able to be a part of this special day for Hannah. To conclude Chapel, Hannah got to go up to the front, put out the candle and hold the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance. Everyone gets a Birthday Blessing for their birthday, K3 through 12th grade. We are looking forward to many many more over the next 14 years!

Chapel was not at its regularly scheduled time today due to a practice for tomorrow's preschool Christmas Program. The Preschool Service, a mini Lessons and Carols Service is tomorrow morning and I am so excited to see the kids dressed in their Christmas best perform. We were told that there can be no flash or video photography during the program so I snapped a few quick pics while watching them rehearse today.
