Food Allergies

It may be difficult to see unless enlarging the picture but this is a typical allergic reaction that we see on Hudson's face nearly every day. This is actually a lot worse than normal as the rash is all over his face instead of just his mouth and chin. His eyes are red and swollen and lips swollen in this picture because he actually had peanut butter crackers near his face. Thankfully he did not ingest them but just the fact that they touched his lips made him break out bad. We know for a fact (anaphylactic reaction to a bran muffin and confirmed blood test) that Hudson is allergic to Peanuts, nuts, pork, soy, and eggs. We carry an epipen with us all at all times and avoid a lot of foods. There are also a lot of foods (especially fruits) that Hudson breaks out with. When he is a little bit older, we will do skin testing so we know exactly what to avoid.

Poor guy...I had a little boy in my classroom who was allergic to bees and he had an epipen, too. Thank goodness we never had to use it!
