Last weekend Diane and Martin came by to bring Hannie a special cupcake for going poopy in the potty. (And yes, I am saying poopy in the potty on my blog...) They also brought her a Christmas present! A huge bag full of dress up shoes! You all know how this girl loves shoes. She does not like wear her real shoes anymore and doesn't understand why she cannot wear her fabulous glittery pink plastic high heals to school with her Christmas dress. It is fun starting the dress up phase and I think I am looking forward to it as much as she is.
On another note, we have been busy busy attending Christmas parties. I genuinely love attending Christmas parties and am thankful to be invited to them, especially the ones we attend every year. With company parties, open houses, costume parties, and kid parties, we stay busy but really enjoy the opportunity to get out of the house, mingle and catch up with good friends, eat lots of yummy food, and enjoy the season.
Saturday night I was at our office Christmas party where I was awarded a princess crown and the Miss Social award! I have such a wonderful work family and truly love where I work and what I do. I am thankful everyday for the opportunity that Dr. N has given me. I am so blessed to be a part of this. When I got home, Stuart said Hannie was running a fever. She had been coughing with a clear runny nose but not acting sick. He took it in her ear (which I do not like and always take a rectal temperature on my kids because it is the only accurate way to take it). He said the ear thermometer read 102.3. He gave her Motrin. Knowing that the ear thermometer is probably off my at least 2 degrees I checked it rectally (now an hour and half after the Motrin) and it was 102.6. We have been medicating her Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours and she is still febrile. She isn't acting sick. Her boogies are a little bit more colorful, her cough is terrible, and she is a little bit whiny. I am suspecting she may have the flu again with the high temp. Of course, I checked her ears, throat, and listened to her lungs last night and all were clear. I don't usually get all worked up about her being sick and may give it even another day. If she is still running fever or acting sick, we may go see the doctor.
