Surgery

Monday we went to see the ENT to discuss tubes. The ENT is fabulous and agreed that she did need them and scheduled the surgery for Wednesday. We headed from the doctor's office to the main hospital to pre-register. We went right up to Same Day Surgery (which is now on the fourth floor) and met lots of familiar faces. My mom worked on Same Day for years and there is a beautiful portrait of her hanging right over the nurse's station. It was great to see my mom's friends and they loved all over Hannah while I got her registered.

This morning, we had to be at the hospital at 6:00am which meant I had to get up at 4:30! A good 6 hours before we normally do! We made it there on time and Hannah only fussed because she wanted her cup and couldn't have anything to eat or drink until after surgery. We went up to Same Day and Rita took us straight back to a room. Hannah changed into a precious little hospital gown (which I have seen many times when working on pedi, but it was so cute on her!) got her ID and allergy bracelets and we were sent downstairs to the holding area. Once downstairs Hannah was visited by several old friends of my moms who are CRNA's. I also worked with them while working at the surgery center right when I moved back to Midland. Dr. Dyer, our old neighbor and friend came over and did Hannah's anesthesia pre-op and paid special attention to her pre, during, and post surgery. Dr. Patel came by and said hello and the nurse came by, Hannah held out her arms and went with her! She even laughed at us waving bye bye to her! They said she cried for just a minute before they gave her the gas to put her asleep. Stuart and I went to the waiting room for about 10 minutes and Dr. Patel came in to tell us that she was done and did great! He said that really needed the tubes and would be a totally different child now that she has them. I have such a hard time imagining this because how much better can she be? He took us back to the holding area where Hannah was asleep on the bed. They had warned us that she may wake up screaming but she didn't. She woke up a tiny groggy but once we handed her her sippy cup, she was fine. They took us back upstairs to Same Day where Allison gave Hannah a cup of milk and she ate some puffs and crackers. We waited there for 30 minutes, got dressed and were all home before 9:00. Stuart took off the afternoon to keep her and she did great. You would have never known that she had had surgery! Even tonight, as I gave her her ear drops, she is acting great! This was such a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to life with tubes!

Throw Up Thursday!

This is what happens less than 1 minute after picking her up from Mothers Day Out!

Flower Child

Here's the Easter Bunny! (We were having fun in Hobby Lobby and yes, we bought them, plus more so we can play dress up some more!)

Let me start out by telling you all that Stuart took Hannah to Toys R Us on Tuesday night while I was a Junior League. I say this so casually, as the flu, rsv, and stomach virus are rampant in Midland and my wonderful husband who is actually the most incredible father I have ever seen, took his healthy daughter to Toys R Us, put her in a dirty cart (cringe!) without a cart cover, then took her home and fed her without washing her hands!!! After my freak out, he tried to take her HEB on Wednesday night while I was work, sans cart cover, and I put my foot down... They ended up not going...

Wednesday my babysitter canceled and my sweet wonderful friend Darby let Hannah come over for the afternoon to play with her daughter! Thanks sooooo much Darby!!!!

We have been acting fine with the exception of a clear runny nose, until Thursday. Thursday morning I woke Hannah up for school got her out of her crib and put her into her highchair. She gave me a funny look and proceeded to throw up onto herself and the tray. Oh, it is sooooo sad to watch your baby throw up. Stuart is freaking out that I am letting her just sit there and continue throwing up, but what can you do? You can't tell my 13 month old to go hold her head over the toilet. I got her up and took her to the bathtub where she then pooped!!! in the bath tub ( I did not tell you that she did this the night before too!!! and it only happens when I am the one to give her a bath!) Ughhh.... All this while we were both trying to get ready for work. I sent Stu on to work and he came home about 9:30 so I could go to work... Then I got home at noon and Betty came at 1. After the throw up, Hannah was acting fine! Except, she wouldn't nap and was pulling on her ears. After I finished seeing patients I ran home and got her and ran her up to the office for her doctor to see her. She has double ear infections again :( And, on Monday we are going to the ENT to schedule a date to get tubes put in her ears. We also had to get 2 Rocephin shots.

Happy Valentines Day

This little stinker...
Is one year older....
And reading her Valentines Day card

And reading books....
Happy Valentines Day to you!
We had a very low key Valentines Day this year. Saturday we were invited to a Valentines Party! Our friends Rusty and Michelle have a daughter who was born the exact same day as Hannah and a 4 year old son. The Reed's live in Houston but left their kids with Mimi for the week and Mrs. Reed invited us over to Rusty's sister's house for a Valentines Party. We had a great time eating jello hearts, cupcakes, and cookies... The older kids decorated theirs, we just ate ours :) I did not bring my camera but it was so cute to see the little ones together. There were 4 babies, all within about a month of each other and then 2 four year olds. Thanks Mrs. Reed for inviting over! Hopefully next time, Rusty and Michelle can come too!
My Dad sent me another beautiful cake and we got several more Valentines, Thanks everyone. For dinner, Stu and I ordered in Shoguns and had a nice relaxing night at home. We also rented the movie W. and turned it off mid way through due to its historical inaccuracy and poor inappropriate depiction of Bush. Don't rent it.
We also want to wish Mimi a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Its a BIG birthday for Mimi! We love you and can't wait to celebrate!!!

And she is off!

Hannah showing us her belly, when you ask her "Where's your belly?"

Climbing out of the drawer!

Walking and "quacking"

Hannah just LOVES this car!

Does Hannah know that Mommy used to crawl in drawers too? Maybe I scan in an old picture...

This week, she officially "took off" on her own. Thursday while at Mimi's she got out of her chair and walked across the living room to the rocking chair and hasn't stopped going since then! She is doing so well. She is the most precious thing though! She waves her hands or quacks while she is walking! It is sooo cute! I can video it but I don't have a cord to put it on the computer... Maybe soon!
Not much else going on here. We have definitely been laying low due to the flu and RSV outbreak all over town. We try and stay in as much as we can and even skip one day of school a week to help prevent us from catching something. The advantage to working in the most popular pediatric office in town is that I get to see what is going around and who has what. This way, we can judge where we go based on who is going to be there and who has RSV. I know for a fact that 4 out of 8 kids in Hannah's class at school have had RSV... And we just don't need the extra exposure!
We had a very enjoyable evening on Friday night with our friends. We were invited over to our friends house and they cooked yummy burgers and we ate great desserts! All the little kids played and I just feel so blessed to have such good friends who all have little kids around the same age.

Birthday Cake

The birthday cake that my Dad got me!

This cake was created by a pastry chef who worked at some of the most famous pastry shops in Paris, from Pâtisserie Angelica, our large pink purse cake comes complete with handles, gold accents and zipper. It's layered Tahitian vanilla bean cake, with chocolate fudge and white chocolate butter cream, covered in pink fondant. This is a sweet must have for those who simply can't have enough style.

My Secret!

Hi Everybody! I have a secret! Since I only say things like ball, dog, baby, momma, dadda, etc... I've been a very good secret keeper!

Until Now...

In August, I am going to be a BIG SISTER! I will be 20 months old and hopefully potty trained before Mommy brings home my new playmate. In 1 month I will find out if I am going to have a baby brother or baby sister. Mommy and Daddy found out in early December about this surprise blessing growing in my Mommy's belly. Mommy hasn't felt to well for the past few months either. Mommy, Daddy, and I are so excited to share this news with you and hope that you will all pray for the health and well being of this baby as it continues to grow inside Mommy.
Love, Hannah

Hannah is...

Hannah saying "Cheese" with a trashcan lid around her!

This is the face you get when you say "smile!"

Hannah is 1 year, 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day old day! Clever...

Wednesday, Mimi called me up and work and said Hannah had been very fussy all day and she thought her ears were bothering her. She was right! She rushed Hannie up to the office so Ms. Teri could take a look at her. (I do not doctor my own child). Sure enough, Mimi was right and Hannah had a terrible right ear infection! She also had a fever and felt terrible! Teri gave her some Motrin and an antibiotic shot and by the end of the evening, she was back to her old self! We started an oral antibiotic on Thursday and she hasn't acted sick once! Betty spent today with her and they took advantage of the beautiful weather outside by taking a walk! My very sweet friend Laura took me out to lunch to celebrate my birthday and I spent the rest of the day running errands!

This weekend we will celebrate Hannah's little friend Thayne's first birthday as well as someone else's 28th birthday on Sunday ;)

Aunt Susie and Mommy!

Showing off my walking skills!

I am been kind of slacking on my blog lately and for no reason at all. We haven't been that busy! The weekend before last we took at trip to Dallas to celebrate my Grandmother's 85th Birthday! Almost the entire Hochman family came including a some second cousins and good friends. Hannah really enjoyed seeing Aunt Susie and I am so happy that she remembers her and loves her so much! Hannah showed off her new tricks and was every one's object of affection. She was a great traveler and did wonderfully in the car and in the hotel!

When we got home on Sunday we found that Daisy had chewed a hole in my brand new leather couch! We are furious!!! I called the manufacturer first thing on Monday morning and they will repair it but not until March! Ughhhh!

Monday and Tuesday were pajama days as recently posted and Wednesday and Thursday it was back to work and back to school as usual. Friday night Stuart and I had a double date with our good friends Jenny and Tyler at Garlic Press! I was great to get out for the night! This weekend was nice and we didn't do much of anything. Stuart played golf on Saturday and Hannah and I spent some time with Granddaddy!

Monday we did some grocery shopping and cooked dinner for my friend Michelle who just had her second baby. I also cooked for us which is a rarity in our home. Today, I got up really early to register Hannah for mother's day out for next year. I did this last year. We love our MDO program and hope that we get in again for next year.

The biggest news came late last night when Hannah woke up about an hour after I had put her down... We have 4 FOUR teeth coming in on top!!! They are all breaking through!!! If you remember, we didn't get teeth until we were 10 months old and since then we have only had the 2! Finally! She is going to have a mouth full... Not that her eating as suffered in the least!
