End of the school year!

May was a crazy month!

The kids had their school program. Hannah had a speaking part!

We got icecream... just because!

Roses grew in my backyard

May was exhausting for all of us!

We did push ups!

We celebrated Mothers Day at the JW

Hannah had her top four teeth pulled (to make room for the big ones to come in because she has narrowed her bite so much by thumb sucking).

Hannah's Dance Recital

Way back in May (before I took a blog hiatus!) Hannah had her fourth dance recital! She did three dances this year. The first one "Dance with your Daddy" ended with their Daddy's joining them on the stage! Her jazz dance was "Who let them dogs out," although their costumes resembled more of a cow. They sure were cute though! She had a small sassy solo part in her tap dance to "These boots were made for walking!"
This was the our last year in the morning recital and next year she will be in the afternoon recital with older girls. She is still enjoying dance and had a great class this year with lots of friends. Because she started a year early, I "held her back" so she could be with her age group and friends. This was a great decision and you could see where that extra year of dance has paid off. She is a great dancer and I loved watching her.

President's Farewell

After a full year of being The Junior League of Midland, Inc. President and a total of two and half years of this role, I officially passed the gavel and closed the book on my Junior League career.
This was an amazing experience and a privilege to be the president of this organization. For 65 years, the Junior League of Midland has served our community. My theme this year was "Celebrating a Legacy" as we celebrated our 65th year as an organization. I learned so much from this organization, from this experience and from the conferences and trainings that I was able to attend. I made lifelong friendships through the League and will genuinely miss being Active. Throughout my Active career I have witnessed so much growth in the League. This year was no exception as the Board and our members dedicated much of their time and energy to making positive changes.

It is bittersweet to close this chapter and pass the gavel. It is a tremendous time commitment and I am excited to take this training and move on. However, I leave a lot of heart and passion for this organization behind as I step away. I couldn't have left this League in better hands. I had the opportunity to share this journey with my best friend. We worked so closely together this last year and I couldn't have asked for a better President-Elect. Michelle will do an amazing job and the League will continue to thrive under her leadership.

The May Annual Meeting is where the unofficial transition takes place. I was honored to have my family, dad and in-laws attend this meeting. It was a privilege to hand out several awards to very deserving women and I recounted an amazing year and all of our accomplishments in my farewell speech.
It has been nearly a month since I officially retired. I have enjoyed the time away so far and having quite a bit less emails in my inbox. However, while I will appreciate the extra time with my family, I do miss being an integral part of such amazing organization of women purposed at bettering our community.

Kindergarten Graduation

Hannah graduated from Kindergarten last month! We had a wonderful year. She has become a really good reader and learned so much this year. We are so proud of her and look forward to moving on to first grade!

When I grow up I want to be in the Olympics.
